Notifications#
The app can notify you — with the app closed and the phone locked — of what your console notifications tell you: an agent waiting for your approval, a repair on a machine, a machine down, your run that failed, an invitation.
Turn them on#
- Install the app (or keep it open in Chrome).
- Settings → Notifications → This device: turn it on, and choose Allow when the phone asks.
- On iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later, add the app to your home screen: Safari does not deliver notifications to a page in a tab.
- Open Astralyx from the home screen.
- Settings → Notifications → This device: turn it on, and choose Allow.
Until the app is opened from the home screen, Settings shows these steps instead of the switch.
Open console.astralyx.cloud/app in Chrome, Edge or Firefox (or install it), then Settings → Notifications → This device.
Send a test notification checks that it arrives. Each phone or browser is a device of its own, listed under This device; remove one with its bin button (or turn the switch off on that device). You may have 20; past that, the oldest goes. A device the push service says is gone (the app removed, the permission withdrawn) is removed by itself; one that keeps failing says why.
What is pushed#
Turn each kind on or off under What is pushed:
| Kind | Pushed unless you turn it off |
|---|---|
| Agents waiting for your approval | Yes |
| Repairs waiting for approval, machines waiting for replacement | Yes |
| Your AI assistants asking to confirm | Yes |
| Invitations | Yes |
| Machines down | Yes |
| Incidents on machines | Yes |
| Your runs that failed | Yes |
| Deployments shared with you | No |
| Environments you were added to | No |
| E-mails not delivered | No |
Who is told of what is as in the console (machines and repairs: the organisation's owners and admins; approvals: the people who may decide; runs: who submitted them) — see Notifications. A notification is pushed once, within an hour of happening; what happened before a device was turned on is not sent to it.
Quiet hours#
Turn on Quiet hours and choose From and To (22:00 to 07:00 by default; a range that crosses midnight is fine). In those hours nothing is pushed; the inbox, the console and the e-mails you chose still have it. They follow your phone's time zone when you set them.
What a notification says#
Its title and a line of it, and where it leads in the app. The message is encrypted for your device: the push service that carries it (Google's, Apple's, Mozilla's, Microsoft's) cannot read it. Tapping it opens the item — in the inbox for a decision, under Alerts for a machine or an incident. A decision that is not dangerous can be approved from the notification itself; see From a notification.

Troubleshooting#
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Add the app to your home screen first | iPhone and iPad: notifications reach only the app opened from the home screen (above). |
| Notifications need iOS 16.4 or later | Update the device. |
| Notifications are blocked for this site | Allow them in the browser's or the phone's settings for the console's address, then turn the switch on again. |
| This browser cannot get notifications | Use Chrome, Safari (home screen), Edge or Firefox. |
| The test arrives, real ones do not | Check What is pushed and Quiet hours, and that you are one of the people told of that kind. |
